California Institute of Technology Radio Observatory
Since 1958, north of Big Pine, the two 90-foot parabolic dishes of the Cal Tech radio telescopes can be seen (there are now several additional newer instruments as well). In its first two years of operation, this facility discovered more stars than all other radio observatories of that time combined!
